This beautiful Blue Hemlock (Tsuga Canadensis) comes from Canada and is steam distilled from needles and twigs. It is not to be confused with the Poison Hemlock–an evergreen plant with highly toxic leaves. The Blue Hemlock is an ancient tree that grows from Nova Scotia to Georgia.
Used in Native American medicine, and old home remedies, the inner bark was used to treat kidney and bladder challenges, and the twigs were boiled to make an enema for treating diarrhea. It was used to treat sores, ulcers, and even made into a strong tea to treat gangrene. It was often sprayed into the shoes to prevent foot odor. It was also used as a douche for a remedy for uterine and vaginal infections. Native Americans also used the tea as a drink to prevent scurvy. Blue Hemlock was added into steam baths for rheumatism and arthritis, colds, sore throats, and lung ailments. It is very astringent, and can be used to stop bleeding. It has a skin tightening effect when used as a toner or in skin creme.
Blue Hemlock carries the protective energy of all the giant evergreen trees. It opens meridian flows and expands the energy field.
