Fire from a Stone
A pair of stones have been singing to me. They look like ordinary stones. Ones you might find in a forest by a river bank. They could be easily overlooked, yet they have much magic.
Their song began a couple of weeks ago. They started smiling at me. Shining more brightly than the others. Their colour, more vivid. I felt a magnetic pull towards them. I didn’t reach for them right away though. Maybe it wasn’t time. Perhaps I held some resistance. In retrospect, I can see that I did. The shift they were about to spark would shake things up a bit—ok, actually a lot.
Now they are singing for you.
Fire from a Stone
They are Shaman Stones—at least that’s what my supplier called them. I know that Moqui marbles are also called by the same name so I’ll call them fire stones to avoid confusing them.
One of the most amazing qualities of these fire stones is that they create a spark when struck together.
Creative Spark
These stones that spark fire, sparked my creative energy and fuelled my passion.
Art has always been a passion of mine and at the beginning of the year, I had decided to infuse every day with some drawing or painting—even if it were just for a few minutes. I did a little drawing here and there but the year was half over and I had not fulfilled my promise to myself.
I had been wishing and wanting to pick up my paint brushes but there was always something more important I had to do and there was always tomorrow. Now, with the fire stones close by, I’ve been finding myself painting almost daily—and loving it. The joy I’ve been feeling from freeing up my creativity has spilled over into other areas of my life.
Inspiration + Magic
In journeying with the fire stones, I’ve noticed my passion and commitment to my sacred purpose deepening. Things that I’d only dared dream about are now feeling real to me. One of those things is the magical community I’ve been planning to launch. Inspiration and ideas for how to implement it have made the launch more imminent. (Click here to find out more about it).
Chaos and Order
As I create and focus on my purpose, something else is happening too. My home is becoming less cluttered. Now that I think of it, my mind is becoming less cluttered as well. As I set my wild self free through artistic expression, there is now space for structure and order. It turns out I can be creative and organized.

The creative spark is personal
The fire of creativity will burn differently for each of us. Humans are creative beings by nature. Our creative expression is as diverse as we are. It’s often suppressed, either because it’s never been an option, or because of practicality, or because of our own fears and insecurities. But with a little help from our stone friends, we can light the fire and see what we create.
