Crystals for colds
With the change in season and the drop in temperature, it’s not surprising a winter cold came on. I’ve never been able to take mainstream meds. Even the mild over the counter drugs are too strong for me. I’m way too sensitive.
Herbal teas and homeopathic remedies work well. But the first thing I reach for when I start to feel a cold coming on, is my Amber Syrup Star Song—a crystal elixir energized with amber crystals, some resins, a few drops of select essential oils and, believe it or not, whiskey. None of these things go directly into my body. The shift happens on the energetic level.
But while Amber Syrup is my go too for colds, this time I’m inspired to gather together a new circle of crystals.
Clear breathing
Aquamarine to open up the breath and clear the head. Aquamarine crystals came forward about a year ago to show me a breath practice that can help to clear the airways.
Cooling Chlorite
I’m hearing the call of Chlorite. My sense is that it’s going to cool my throat chakra. Chlorite came through with lithium as a as a duet called Chlorium at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic. Chlorite for the cough and lithium to calm the anxiety. This time it is singing solo.
A little love
Rhodochrosite for the feelings of insecurity that are accompanying my sniffles and for the voice of blame that tells me I could have avoided this by getting enough rest or vitamins. This stone is one I often reach for often when I need some self love. A little love is an ingredient that is welcome anytime—not just when my body is healing.
Golden warmth
Copal is a stone that has been showing up in so many ways since it came in as the Stone of the Year for 2023. This crystalized sap offers so many gifts. For my cold, it brings its golden healing light to warm my body and my heart. Its sweet medicine can soothe my throat and my spirit.
Cleansing
Pink Himalayan Salt is something that is always part of my self care. A salt water rinse can cleanse the unhelpful bacteria without harming the good ones—which are especially needed during a cold. But don’t disregard salt’s metaphysical value. Selenite or halite crystals can bring cleansing and clearing energy to the circle.
Soothe fears
I’m playing with the idea of including a carnelian or golden opal lion heart crystal to soothe any fears that might creep in. Colds are common and nothing to be concerned over but that doesn’t stop the mind from playing out scary scenarios and worrying about what it could be—especially after consulting with Dr. Google.
Power boost
Then of course adding quartz can amplify the energy of the other crystals and can give this beautiful circle of stones power boost. I’m feeling inspired to look for a nice bright piece of ice quartz which itself has a beautifully clear and pure energy.
I’ll also find a beautiful pouch or bowl to keep these crystals in. These will be my crystals for colds and I’ll keep them in my medicine cabinet for when I need them again. When I’m feeling under the weather, I don’t always have the clarity or the energy to hunt for crystals.
